“Ride the line was written. On tour in Oklahoma City OK. The transmission on our van had died outside Tucson so we had to buy a new/used van on the spot in order to make it to the next gig. About two hours later the new van started to overheat and we realized we’d be sold a lemon. For the next three weeks, we drove that van on the edge of overheating from Albuquerque to Memphis to New Orleans and back to the Bay Area. Always on the verge. Always pushing that red line. It was a hard trip and the van seemed to represent a lot of the risk and chaos traveling as a musician adds to your life. But in the end. As always. It was worth it. Many opportunities came from this trip, connections were made, and the music was played at an intensity that can only come from putting all your cards on the table. I learned I have support; loving people that will be there through the hardest times. Miles and I have always had that connection and it’s woven through our songs and friendship.”
